When I tell people about little Kansas, OK where we live, it usually doesn't take too long. We have a flashing yellow light at one of our "busy" intersections, and the most exciting traffic jams we ever have are typically due to slow-moving flatbeds filled with bales of hay . . . and the occassional "WIDE LOAD" trailer about to be delivered
to some lucky customer of "Repos-R-Us." Needless to say, it's not the most hopping sort of place . . . but it's "home." And not only to 800+ residents, but to world-renown restaurants like: Simple Simons (our pizza place that makes the best calizone), The Harvest House (where they do their best at frying and grilling frozen pre-packaged foods), Daylight Donuts (which turns into a very smoky Junction 412 Diner at unpredictable hours during the week), The Mule Barn and Social Club (the biker-friendly bar that was built on a curvy part of Highway 10), and The Feed Trough Cafe (OUR FAVORITE).
Now, when folks hear of our frequenting The Feed Trough Cafe they might wonder if we have to graze the tables and drink out of communal water troughs to get our fill. Let me put your mind at ease. There are no live animals present, nor are their "bobbing for horse apple" contests. The restaurant is quickly becoming well-known for their burgers, Indian tacos, and atypical menu items such as froglegs, crawfish, and gator. And as a special service to the community, they host a weekly meeting for Alcoholics Anonymous. So, if you're one who has a secret little problem with your Grandma's vodka, you might want to join her and the others in the meeting room at 7pm on Thursdays. Trust me . . . it'll be our little secret. Seriously, though, I have a hard time being convinced that anonimity will be guaranteed when there is a poster on the front door of the restaurant inviting new members to attend. Don't believe me? Check out the picture.
Shhhhhh . . . it's our little secret
