Summer blackberries

While trying to survive a hot Oklahoma summer, there's nothing like a fresh batch of blackberries as they ripen to the point of scavenging and eating. Yum! With all the rain we've gotten over the past couple weeks, we (Mike, me, Stacey and Eryn) decided to explore some of the wilderness of Cookson Hills and see what nature had to offer. In addition to bug bites, ticks, scrapes from thistles/thorns, poison ivy (Stacey), and countless seeds in one's teeth, we came home with nearly a gallon's worth of berries . . . to split between our two families, of course. McKenna enjoyed the outing as well, though she shut down on us and went to sleep after we told her that eating the leaves was no longer acceptable.
