It's (F)ALL About You

With the seasonal falling of leaves and changing of temperatures, I can't help but make symbolic comparisions between nature and life. While I'll spare you most of them here, I will make mention of the one that occupies the most brain space right now (and most days) . . . the one that involves my sweet girl McKenna.

With the many changes that have been taking place in her lately, it's almost as though we are entering a new season of life with her. We've moved from pureed meals to table foods, speed-crawler to aspiring sprinter, and toothless wonder to a cranky teething baby. And while some folks have said to me in the past that it doesn't get better than six months of age, I kind of find her gradual steps to developmental independence pretty darn exciting. Or maybe it's more of the seeing the look on her face when she masters new things or adds another new adventure to the list.

In the time between posts we have definitely had some of these adventures. As you can see by the pictures included with this entry, we've enjoyed playing in the leaves, dressing up as a ladybug (a nice free hand-me-down outfit), and swinging with dad in his hammock. We expect to have many more adventures in the next couple weeks, especially as we round out the first year of life with a baby and celebrate her birthday on the 24th of this month. We also look forward to traveling to Illinois to see Grammie and Papaw and all the cousins--including our new cousin Avery.

We'll try to do better to keep you posted!
